Благодаря этому монитор EW3280 обеспечивает продуктивную рабочую среду, где требуются относительно низкие уровни масштабирования, обеспечивая при этом отличную четкость и детализацию для контента с высоким разрешением. Из-за хорошей подставки с возможностью наклона данная модель придется по вкусу многим.
Для любителей настенного монтажа предусмотрено крепление VESA. Такая «деревенская» эстетика весьма привлекательна в данный момент. Кое-где, конечно, есть слабые места, в том числе немного в качестве изображения. Но взгляд пользователя не заметит чего-то неприятного или бросающегося в глаза.
Данную модель не стоит сравнивать с недостатками, наблюдаемыми у конкурирующих моделей с VA матрицами. Adaptive-Sync – очередной плюс в сторону монитора BenQ EW3280U. С помощью AMD FreeSync можно избавиться от разрывов и заиканий из-за несоответствия частоты кадров и обновления экрана.
Эффективный рабочий диапазон на типичном верхнем уровне для модели с адаптивной синхронизацией от 40 до 60 Гц. Поэтому данная модель не дает такой гибкости, как хотелось бы некоторым профессиональным геймерам.

Монитор на практике
Работать на EW3270U одно удовольствие. Картинка на экране детализированная и насыщенная, благодаря разрешению 4K и эмуляции HDR. Видео и игры обладают высокой чёткостью, со множеством деталей. Здесь легко погрузиться в отображаемый контент, особенно в видео с природой. Контрастность экрана составляет 3000: 1, а цветовой охват – 95% по DCI-P3, что в результате даёт нам великолепную передачу цветов и богатую насыщенную картинку.
Частота обновления составляет 60 Гц, и во время игр помощь поддерживаемой технологии AMD FreeSync не помешает (или V-Sync). Иногда в играх бывают обрывы изображения, но, V-Sync решает эту проблему. Большим преимуществом также является наличие средств для защиты зрения. BenQ EW3280U monitor review: performance
It’s in its performance where the BenQ EW3280U truly shines. It might just be a monitor for multimedia consumption, but it delivers sharp and stunning picture quality worthy of creative workflows. That’s especially with its sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamuts and Rec.709 colour mode, excellent viewing angles, and high colour accuracy.
Its DisplayHDR 400 might not be proper HDR. Still, it delivers accurate colours and gives those visuals a boost in saturation, even if it doesn’t do much in boosting the dynamic range in the darkest and brightest sections to get back some of the lost details. The HDRi modes are also effective in that same way.
Colour accuracy
While BenQ doesn’t mention anything about its colour accuracy, it’s actually better than one would expect from a non-professional monitor. Using our Datacolor Spyder X Pro colorimeter and the DisplayCal 3 calibration software, we found that although the BenQ EW3280U isn’t accurate enough, especially for creative work, out of the box, it does improve considerably post-calibration, yielding a Delta-E of just 1.20 and more specifically 1.95 for its DCI-P3 colour profile.

BenQ only advertises a 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut on the BenQ EW3280U’s official specs page, but it actually delivers better colour coverage during our testing. It gives us 99.9% of sRGB (although the Datacolor app says 100%) as well as a higher 97.3% of the DCI-P3 colour space.
Brightness

The brightness falls short, albeit only a little. During our tests, we recorded 344cd/m2 and 990:1 contrast ratio at 100% brightness. That’s not far from the 350-nit brightness and 1,000:1 contrast ratio BenQ has promised, even if it is disappointing to see a less than healthy contrast than the already average number promised.

What BenQ is trying to do with its monitors’ audio capabilities is admirable, and the 2.1 treVolo speaker system in the BenQ EW3280U is certainly a welcome addition, especially considering it’s a monitor designed for media consumption. Regular users who aren’t very particular when it comes to audio quality will definitely approve.
However, if you’re one who’s a little more discerning, the speakers on this might not be enough. The dialogue is hard to hear even at full volume, the high end isn’t crisp, and there’s not much bass either despite that 5W built-in sub. Also, the soundstage isn’t very wide, so everything sounds crowded during scenes when there are several audio elements. And, the centre of the soundstage seems to be missing, which is probably why the dialogue isn’t as clear and why vocals in music sound a little hollow.
For a better audio experience, you’re better off using a separate pair of speakers or a soundbar.

BenQ has already established its ability to produce an excellent quality HDR display with previous models, including its . A lot of what makes that monitor appealing applies here as well. BenQ is using the same HDR implementation, an identical (but scaled up) design, and many of the same specs.
The look of the EW3280U is premium and unobtrusive. The display itself is flanked by very thin bezels and metallic brown accents that kind of fade into the background. That’s a great design choice when your main goal is focusing on the content on screen, whether it be browsing the web, streaming some video, or diving into some games.
Even one of the monitor’s best features, its forward-facing soundbar, avoids attracting attention. The speakers are integrated underneath the display and are covered by a mesh of plastic decked out in the same metallic brown color as the rest of the monitor. The only exception is the middle portion of the speaker mesh, which contains the sensors for the remote and the monitor’s automatic brightness adjustment.
Turning attention to the display itself, colors are crisp and vibrant right out of the box, even without HDR enabled. Once you start interacting with HDR content, colors and contrast begin to pop even more. When working close to the screen, as most of us do with monitors, BenQ’s HDR implementation feels like it could rival the high-end Sony television in my living room.

Beyond basic HDR, BenQ also has several emulated HDR modes that you can cycle through. These settings essentially take content displayed in standard dynamic range (SDR) and adjust the picture to emulate it as if it was HDR content. There are different emulated HDR settings for cinema and games, as well as a display HDR mode.
The emulated HDR actually looks really, really good. It manages to make even older games, like World of Warcraft, look more lifelike with deeper contrasts and brighter colors throughout the screen. As I noted in my review of the EX2780Q, however, it can blow out highlights in some content, so it’s not a full replacement for true HDR.
One thing that continues to surprise me is the quality of the speakers on BenQ’s monitors. The sound here is supported by two two-watt speakers and a five-watt woofer. Simply put, these continue to be some of the best speakers I’ve heard on a monitor, which is typically a weak point for all displays. You may still wish to use a set of external speakers, but the EW3280U’s sound is suitably loud and thumpy for what it’s working with.
There are a few other little additions that make using the EW3280U a pleasant monitor to use. For gamers, there’s support for AMD’s FreeSync, so you can cut down on screen tearing with a compatible AMD card. BenQ has also included several different options to cut down on eye strain, including adjusting the brightness based on ambient lighting, low blue light modes, and color weakness filters for those with color blindness. There’s also a unique emulation mode that makes everything on the display act as if it’s being displayed on an e-ink screen.
Bright Lights, Big Screen
As a high-resolution, big-screen entertainment monitor, the BenQ EW3280U is a couple of big steps forward from the BenQ EW3270U, adding a much improved sound system with good bass and treble response as well as the company’s HDR enhancement (HDRi) and a handheld remote for easy control of sound and color. It doesn’t support the high refresh rates of the Editors’ Choice BenQ EX2780Q, but it has a larger panel and higher resolution, making it a great choice for watching movies, music videos, and any content in which impactful sound and picture quality are important. It earns its own Editors’ Choice as an entertainment monitor in the 32-inch range.

There’s a lot to like about the EW3280U, but it isn’t perfect. For one, I would have really liked a higher power output through the USB-C port, especially considering this monitor was released at the tail end of 2019. Plenty of Mac and Windows machines with USB-C draw more than 60W, and there are plenty of other monitors on the market that output as much as 90W.
This monitor also maxes out at 60Hz, which could be an instant deal-breaker for some PC gamers that typically look for refresh rates of 144Hz or even higher. Being a filthy casual who games from consoles in the living room, though, this really doesn’t bother me. 60Hz is plenty when I’m editing 30fps video in Final Cut Pro X, which amounts to the bulk of the time spent at my desk.
While I’m a fan of the included monitor stand’s cable management routing, I do wish it were a bit more adjustable. The monitor can be tilted up or down to get a better angle, but the stand is so rigid that at first, I didn’t think you could move it at all. It also isn’t height-adjustable, nor can the monitor be rotated vertically — the latter problem is a bit more niche, but height adjustment can be crucial to certain desk setups.

Su enfoque multimedia requiere de una buena reproducción del color, aunque no al nivel de modelos enfocados a fotografía. Que logue una precisión del color del 100% en la paleta sRGB da fe de su buena reproducción del color, pero si además alcanza el 88% de AdobeRGB, es que incluso podemos usarlo para fotografía/diseño de forma semiprofesional, pues por encima del 85% ya comienza a ser válido para tales menesteres.
A continuación, os mostramos una comparativa de los valores alcanzados por los distintos monitores que hemos probado con nuestro calibrador, viendo claramente como este modelo se sitúa en la zona noble de la tabla.
Pero es que, si reproducimos contenidos multimedia con HDR, sacaremos el máximo partido a sus excelentes colores para una reproducción realmente sensacional.
Otro de los puntos a tener en cuenta del panel IPS que monta este BenQ EW3280U es la iluminación. Si bien especifica 350-400 cd/m2, realmente ofrece una media de 300 cd/m2 con el brillo al máximo, que no están nada mal. Sin embargo, la homogeneidad del brillo a lo largo de la pantalla no es demasiado buena, pues vemos una desviación típica de 17,7, pues en el centro alcanza esos 350 cd/m2 prometidos, pero la esquina inferior izquierda solo consigue 289 cd/m2.

Por último, debemos destacar su muy buen desempeño en juegos, pues, aunque no sea un monitor con 144 Hz o un input lag superbajo, la mayoría de usuarios podrán disfrutare con él sin problemas, aunque obviamente existe un gran salto desde los 60 Hz a valores superiores.
Anotar que este modelo ofrece el sistema Bright Intelligence Plus (B.I.+) que mide la luz ambiente para adaptar de forma dinámica el brillo del monitor a los distintos escenarios, muy útil cuando pasamos de usarlo durante el día a la noche. También destacable es su tecnología antiparpadeo (flicker free) o la baja emisión de luz azul.
So should you buy the BenQ EW3280U 4K Monitor?

The BenQ EW3280U is an excellent monitor that manages to bring enough value from the combination of 4K and its HDR modes to fit its price. If you’re mainly concerned with streaming video, browsing the web, and keeping eye fatigue to a minimum, this is an excellent monitor to pick up. Content is crisp, and colors are poppy, and the speakers are just the cherry on top.
Still, $800 could be a prohibitive cost for some, in which case you might want to look at other options. If BenQ’s design and features appeal to you, it’s worth considering an alternative like the (opens in new tab). While it’s five inches smaller in size, it’s under $600 and includes a 144Hz display. Plus, you can access many of the same noteworthy features, like HDR emulation and excellent speakers.
